I had an excellent meeting on Friday afternoon with a local Liberal Member of Parliament. This Member had read my postings and the newsletters that I had forwarded, and actually understood the issues. I felt that I was listened to.
There had only been a handful of people emailing about the tax changes, but then 60+ showed up at a constituency open house to express their concern about the proposed tax changes.
I was asked what one word I would convey to Morneau if I had the chance. My one word is "consultation" and I mean real consultation, not a token 75 days when Parliament isn't sitting.
I came away with the following thoughts, based on our meeting.
1. If your MP has an open house SHOW UP and bring people. This Member really didn't understand the impact until so many people showed up.
